Micro Hardness Testing of Cured Lacquer on Thin Polymer Film Substrates
When materials are being used in applications requiring resistance to impact, scratching and general wear, the non metallic films need to be characterised to give certain surface properties. Measuring the hardness of very thin hard films on thin and maybe softer substrates presents particular problems.
Using the Fischerscope HM2000S and the load/indentation method according to ISO 14577-1, Fischer Instrumentation (GB) Ltd have carried out an investigation into a range of polymer films, coated with a lacquer and cured to various levels to achieve the required hardness for the surface properties needed.
