St Mark’s House, an office block in Birkenhead, was suffering
from water ingress through the walls. The construction below
the windows on each floor consisted of brick slips mounted
on a prefabricated board. The brick slips were becoming
loose and falling off in places, causing the water ingress and
presenting a potential danger to the office workers below.
Flexcrete Monolevel 844SP, a cementitious repair mortar, was
used to flush point the brick slips and hold them in place.
Decothane HS, a seamless waterproofing membrane, was
then applied to fully waterproof the building and ensure that
no further spalling would occur.
The office remained fully occupied throughout the works and
therefore project planning was a key consideration to ensure
that the office staff were able to carry out their daily duties
without inconvenience.
