GGB Bearing Technology, formerly Glacier Garlock Bearings, reports that CLI Bearings continues to misrepresent itself as an authorized distributor for GGB´s products in China. “We have no connection whatsoever with CLI Bearings,” said GGB Vice President of Global Marketing Alain Cervantes. “We want the marketplace to know the ‘GGB’ products offered by CLI are not manufactured by us.“ GGB is most concerned about its DU and DX metal-polymer products, which it originally developed and continues to market globally. The company introduced self-lubricating DU in 1956, the world’s first steel-backed metal-polymer bearing material, followed in 1965 by its marginally lubricated DX material for grease and oil lubricated applications. “To avoid deception, our DU and DX bearings have distinctive logos, assuring purchasers they are receiving the genuine article,” said GGB’s Cervantes. GGB entered the China market in 2004 with a head sales office in Shanghai, and opened its first manufacturing facility in Suzhou in 2008. It now also has offices in Chongqing, Shenzhen and Tianjin. The company is currently building a larger production plant, also in Suzhou, to replace its original facility.
