GGB relocates Swiss office
30-06-2010
The Swiss operating unit of GGB Bearing Technology, GGB Tristar Suisse SA, will move its office in Geneva to new quarters in Bettlach in northern Switzerland. The move positions the company to better serve the countrys strong manufacturing base, including metalworking machinery, food and beverage processing equipment, packaging machinery, railroad and tramway equipment, pumps, turbines and water treatment equipment, power generation equipment and machinery for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
“Moving from Geneva will put us closer to our primary markets,” says GGB Country Manager Paul Sägesser. “Located in the southwestern part of the country in an expensive administration-oriented city, our old office was not particularly well situated to serve these markets. Another important factor is logistics; we will now be able to improve customer deliveries, reduce transport of specials to our workshop, and accelerate the supply chain from our plant in Heilbronn, Germany.”
GGB Tristar traces its beginnings to 1919 when it was established in Geneva to import and market metal products and tools for the building industry. In 1946 the company began distributing Glacier bearings, and in 1987 it was integrated into the Glacier group, later to become GGB Tristar Suisse SA.
The new office is located near the city of Solothurn, within a triangle formed by Zurich, Bern and Basel. GGB Tristar will occupy space on the top floor of a newly constructed building.
