Munchy™ the Caterpillar Seating Sparks Imaginations in Taiwan Playgrounds

Taiwan has many exciting children’s play parks filled with interactive and inclusive landscapes where imagination is truly unlimited! Two of these popular play parks were looking for a novelty shaped seating solution where they could provide a place for both children and adults to sit whilst visiting and enjoying the park. For a recent project working on the two playgrounds in Taiwan, Glasdon were contacted. Aim: Provide playgrounds with a versatile, novelty shaped seating solution, that can offer children and families comfort and a place to rest, without limiting the imagination and excitement of the rest of the theme of the park. Solution: Munchy™ the Caterpillar Seat Playground 1: Flying with Butterfly in Taipei Expo Park (A Big Flower Expo Park) In a turn key project, the Munchy™ the Caterpillar Seat was chosen for an all-inclusive playground in Taipei Expo Park, where the design was inspired by the ‘life of the butterfly’. Munchy in Taipei Expo Park In Munchy Square, the pupa shaped building represents the stage of the butterfly before its development, tying in with the playgrounds theme. The playground is designed to inspire and encourage children of all abilities to aim for success with Munchy caterpillars looking on towards the Butterfly at the top of the hill, showing children how they can overcome challenges. Placed in the centre of the playground, the Munchy seat is ideal for visitors meeting and waiting, or for children to take a seat and rest after playing. The park is now attracting thousands of visitors a week and has become a popular place for young student groups to visit on school trips. Munchy in Li-Nonog Park Playground 2: Li-Nong in Li-Nonog Park Another turn key project saw the Munchy seat as the perfect solution to a playground in North Taipei. The requirement here was for a children’s seat that was not only useful and could be easily tailored to the design, but ‘beautiful’ to fit in with the rest of the playground. Many children and parents attend the park day and night and the Munchy seat has made for another successful project. Meet Munchy™ the Caterpillar Munchy the Caterpillar is a novelty shaped character seat that can be placed indoors or outdoors and ideal for nurseries, playgroups, schools and playgrounds. Munchy in unique O Shape Able to withstand wear and tear, it is robust enough to endure children climbing over it and is child friendly with no finger traps or sharp edges. The playground had the design installed without the caterpillar head to create a unique, joined up ‘O’ shaped body. This configuration meant the seat could be set around trees in the park. It’s unique modular design allows it to be assembled in either an ‘S’ shape or a ‘U’ shape configuration to suit the setting. You can also easily add extra sections, which simply clip together. The standard model seats up to four children, however with the additional body mouldings you can create almost unlimited layouts and increase the seating numbers.
