Glazing Refurbishment have recently completed a large scale leak repair to Gatwick Airport Controll Tower
The operation involved our high level Airport division team to work airside of the Airport with the stripping down of the glazing system as a whole. All existing weather seals were cut out and external cappings removed to expose the glazing bars themselves and associated drainage system. Internal weep channels were inspected and cleared where necessary. New internal primary weather seals were applied throughout, together with specialist weather tapes. All cappings were then re-instated to their correct positions, with new fixings installed where required. Finally a full water test was conducted to ensure the integrity of the glazing and a 60 month guarantee issued.
Seal failure, poor installation, drainage system failure or glazing system damage are the most common cause of leaks.
Our team will conduct a hose test to determine the exact points of ingress and then carry out an investigation into the root cause of the leak and action the repairs as necessary.
There are many methods used in the repairs from replacing the existing gasket seals, replacing silicone seals, applying glazing tape and in worse case scenarios replacing components and adding design changes to problematic areas.
All leak repairs are supported by a guarantee that covers ingress problems after our visit. Therefore if any leaks occur within the guaranteed period, we will attend free of charge to remedy the problem.
