Magnetic Products - SmCo - Samarium Cobalt

Samarium Cobalt magnets were the first of the rare earth materials developed and has been in use since the 1960's. Two versions of the material 1:5 and 2:17 the latter being richer in cobalt and thus having higher energy product values. The main uses for SmCo magnets remain in areas where a high energy product is required yet the material must resist either high ambient temperatures or a humid or salt based environment. SmCo is chemically quite inert and does not oxidise readily. Likewise it has a very low temperature co-efficient and the demagnetisation curve remains linear in the 2nd quadrant for large rises in temperature up to 800oC.Contact us for more information.
