Indoor Air Quality Audits generally include samples and checks on a number of test parameters. The key parameters may vary according to the specific demands of individual buildings. Three levels of audit can be provided so that a suitable range of key parametersare analysed: ‘BASIC FIVE.’ These are utilised as they consist of the elements that contribute to a comfortable environment along with pollution contaminants that are readily available from within the premises and from outside the premises: • Temperature • Relative humidity • Carbon Dioxide • Carbon Monoxide • Airborne Microbials The ‘Basic Five’ would be applicable to all enclosed workplaces, in particular offices along with theatres, cinemas, large retail outlets etc. ADVANCED. Depending on particular building factors (i.e. known local pollutants, proximity and location, use, age etc) other potential pollutants may be tested for including: • Ozone • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) • Chlorine • Oxides of Nitrogen • Sulphur Dioxide Examples of premises that may require additional sampling parameters may be newly furnished offices, swimming pools, print rooms and various processing plant. TAILORED • Airborne microbials • Respirable dusts A Tailored audit may be applicable to clean rooms, sterile areas and workshops etc.
