Pre-construction Radio and TV Reception Surveys
Product Code: Baseline TV signal survey
Pre-construction radio and television reception surveys
Larger proposed developments and wind farms often require environmental studies to discharge planning conditions. Specialist consultants are usually required to advise and submit work covering a wide range of subjects. We provide radio and television reception surveys and broadcast reception impact assessments.
A study is carried out in the same systematic approach as identified in EIA guidelines - a baseline condition survey (measurement of existing TV and radio signal levels), prediction of the likely impacts, assessment of effects for any sensitive receptors, residual effects analysis and identification of suitable mitigation measures.
Typical work would involve a detailed pre-visit desktop study, impact predictions, field surveys and site visits, and comprehensive analysis of findings and likely effects. A standard report would contain detailed maps indicating possible areas of interference and the locations of surveyed areas; discussion and analysis of the baseline reception conditions; analysis of the broadcast services available to those areas; and detailed technical advice on suitable mitigation measures.
The field survey would record the baseline reception conditions prior to construction. Detailed pre-construction 'baseline' television signal measurements then exist for broadcast services and this data can aid developers should any subsequent interference require investigation.
