BITA & RTITB AIM TO IMPROVE FORKLIFT TRAINING STANDARDS

A recent collaboration has been announced between RTITB, who are an industry regulatory body for workplace transport training, and The British Industrial Truck Association (BITA). The two organisations aim to work together to help raise the current standards of forklift training throughout the UK. Their common objectives include: Raising awareness for, and promoting the logistics sector as a strong career path for young people. Making better use of emerging and existing technologies to improve modern accessibility and training. Developing and supporting higher training and safety standards, to help reduce workplace transport risks and accidents. BITA is focused on a younger, more highly-trained workforce, fully capable of competing at a global level – and hope to achieve this long term plan by partnering with RTITB, who are widely recognised and respected training organisation. The organisations hope the partnership will drive down industrial accidents, and give forklift operators greater access to the highest standards of training – placing safety, efficiency and people at the forefront. RTITB wants to revolutionise training for material equipment handling, as well as leverage current and emerging technologies to improve learning outcomes. They believe that by teaming with BITA, these objectives will be achieved. There are a number of technologies that RTITB aims to utilise in order to guarantee better accessibility to training for digital natives, these include – virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and other simulators. And by taking advantage of innovative technology, they hope to vastly improve engagement amongst young people, and also help employers by reducing the overall cost and impact of training.
