Harlequin Scholarship awarded at Prix de Lausanne
The inaugural Harlequin Floors Scholarship, introduced at the Prix de Lausanne 2013, has been won by Jinhao Zhang of the University of Shanghai, Liaoing Ballet School. Frank Andersen president of the jury presented the new Harlequin Floors scholarship prize to a clearly thrilled Jinhao Zhang. Later, when Harlequin Europe Senior Sales and Marketing Manager, Patrick Lesage caught up with Jinhao Zhang for his first interview to camera the scholarship winner was quick to praise the quality of the Harlequin dance floors used during the event and for the finals, explaining that “a good floor enables me to perform my techniques, not possible with some floors which can be slippery.” Surprised at winning, but delighted all his hard work paid off, Jinhao Zhang will now able to continue his training at one of the most prestigious dance schools in the world – may be The Royal Ballet if his “dream comes true”. Beth Krasna, President of the Prix de Lausanne, thanked Harlequin for making the Scholarship possible, saying, "We appreciate the decision taken by Harlequin Floors to give a scholarship to one of our finalists particularly in such a difficult economic climate. Harlequin gives the chance to a talented candidate to live his passion and complete his training, which will probably enhance his chance to succeed as a professional dancer." Patrick Lesage responded to the President’s thanks, adding, “It is with great pleasure, that for the very first time, Harlequin Floors has awarded a study scholarship at the 2013 Prix de Lausanne. We are very proud to support a young talent in this way. Congratulations Jinhao!” Harlequin Floors take a positive approach to supporting emerging talent in dance and endorses the aims and achievements of the Prix de Lausanne as an event to encourage and nurture dancers who will go on to become leading dancers and stars of the future. Harlequin Floors, world leader in dance floor technology was proud to be a sponsor of the 41st Prix de Lausanne which took place in Switzerland from 27th January – 2nd February.
