  • Review previous projects and experience
  • Ask about materials and techniques

Our Credentials

When it comes to choosing your commercial surfacing contractor, it’s imperative you check their certification and accreditations. At HMS, our commitment to quality and adhering to industry standards and professional development is paramount. These certifications not only benefit our business but also mean our clients can work with us with absolute confidence.

Quality Assurance. HMS is approved to ISO 9001, the international standard for quality management. By maintaining these standards, we demonstrate our commitment to delivering high-quality work, instilling confidence in our reliability and consistency of service delivery.

Health and Safety. HMS hold CHAS accreditation which is a pre-approval scheme allowing us to demonstrate proficiency to the required health and safety standards. Our health and safety processes and performance are regularly reviewed and audited to ensure compliance.

Constructionline Gold Award. Constructionline is a database used by the construction industry to offer assurance to buyers in central government, local authorities, and main contractors who all require us to be accredited before beginning the tender process. It also ensures contractors abide by legislation in areas such as modern slavery, anti-bribery and corruption and shows we have been assessed and adhere to these standards.

BBA HAPAS Type 1. HMS is approved by the BBA HAPAS Type 1 certification scheme for hot and cold high friction surfacing installation. It is the highest quality standard under BBA certification and enables us to apply hot or cold surfacing systems that produce the best-in-class solution to increase friction between the road surface and vehicle tyres.

BBA Approved Installer. HMS is a BBA-approved installer (number 5020) meaning we satisfy the Highways England specifications that both the product and the installer need to be accredited by BBA to install high friction surfacing.

Other schemes. HMS is also accredited to EcoStar Environmental which is part of our DGSA compliance with the carriage of dangerous goods. Other non-mandatory schemes include CSCS Skilled Workers, City and Guilds NVQ providers and a comprehensive in-house training schedule for all employees.

We feel our credentials speak for themselves and demonstrate our commitment to ensuring we deliver a quality service that conforms to health, safety, and environmental commitments. Engaging with HMS really is a guarantee of the very best quality and service; tested and proven for more than 30 years.

Materials and Techniques

All naturally sourced, our super-washed and kiln-dried aggregates include granites, quartz, marble, pea gravels, and even recycled glass. This not only provides our clients with an unrivalled choice and fully customisable product but also guarantees the very best stone quality.

We also locate the highest-quality UV-stable resin which highlights our focus on durability.  UV stability is crucial in outdoor applications, ensuring that the resin maintains its integrity and aesthetic appeal, even when exposed to sunlight over time.

UV stability also plays an important role in the longevity of the surface as it helps prevent discolouration and degradation of the resin.

Both these factors contribute to the overall quality and lifespan of the commercial surfaces. However, our expert installation using techniques refined over the years ensures any surface installed by HMS is guaranteed to last and look great!

Effective communication is imperative to ensuring a successful completed project. We pride ourselves on our commitment to transparent and open communication throughout every stage of your surfacing project. By prioritising effective communication, we aim to create a collaboration and transparent partnership that not only meets but exceeds expectations.
