As I am writing this I’m busy taking stock of all the news and opportunities that came out of the EEF National Manufacturing Conference & Dinner, held on Tuesday 20th February. It was really good to catch up with some of our existing customers and suppliers and to discuss a few new projects!
If we didn’t get to see you or you couldn’t make it this year I’m sorry we missed you. This week’s conference was a lively event and sold out quickly with a waiting list for tickets – so the EEF conference is definitely one to put in your diary for 2019. The website is already taking preregistrations so subscribers can be informed of when tickets go on sale.
The programme featured speakers from across the industry, from business leaders to researchers, consultants and entrepreneurs. Even Jeremy Corbyn put in an appearance and was willing to participate in a Q&A session after his passionate speech about manufacturing and our importance to the economy – unlike Liam Fox who left a cloud of dust in his haste to leave!
It was a pleasure to see so many experienced directors and company owners sharing their insights at the conference, as well as up and coming talent from exciting new start-ups. The knowledge sharing aspect of the conference is extremely valuable, as well as the opportunity for networking.
One of the most entertaining parts of the day was hearing how Richard Reed and his colleagues managed to get their Innocent Smoothie brand off the ground. Some of their tips and techniques are well worth noting for any budding entrepreneur. You can see the videos on EEF’s Linkedin page and Youtube.
