Günter Blase founded igus® back on 15th October 1964 in a double garage in Cologne. For the first 20 years, the company acted as a supplier of complex technical polymer components. Although, in 1983 Frank Blase established reinforced plastic Energy Chain Systems® as well as injection moulded polymer bearings as two distinct product groups and set up a network of sales engineers. These seemingly unrelated products are linked together by the belief in making functionally advanced, but affordable polymer components as well as assemblies. igus® UK Limited was established in a small office 1991 in Daventry, Northamptonshire. Today igus® UK is situated in a 28,000 square feet industrial unit just 10 minutes away from the M1, allowing even faster collection and delivery times. The modern, spacious building also has ample car parking facilities as well as generous delivery vehicle access. The UK subsidiary has also analysed new methods of packaging and recycling materials, which have resulted in quicker dispatch times and increased environmental friendliness.
