Well, what a way to start 2022! Yes, it’s official, we’ve qualified as a SEMA Distributor Company (SDC), meaning that you no longer have to take our word for it; this SEMA qualification indicates that Ikon Solutions is dedicated to the supply of quality storage equipment. If you’re part of the storage equipment world, you’ll know that receiving the SDC qualification is a big deal! The SEMA Distributor Group is influential as it’s the only body in the UK that tests the competence of distributors or resellers of storage equipment. Formally the SHEDA organisation, it reversed itself under the SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association) umbrella in 2012. With the additional resources this brought, it set about quality testing its membership through the SEMA Distributor Group Audit. The SEMA Distributor Group members know what it takes to meet this standard, work at a highly competent level and manage risk. Members are continually frustrated when people who should know better still essentially buy their storage equipment on a price-led basis and not a competence-led basis, using companies with no accreditation or investment in people and structure. And this is why the qualification means so much to us; although we have over 10 years of experience in the industry, Ikon Solutions is still a relatively young company, so to be audited and approved to be operating in the same field as some of the long-standing players means so much to us.
