So what type of metal detector would be best for you? Well, to answer this we need to establish how and where you intend to use it; ...if you have lots of people to scan quickly for instance, you will probably need a walkthrough arch type metal detector (often referred to as a knife arch), similar to those commonly used at airports. ...if volume of persons to scan is not an issue, a hand held wand type metal detector will offer a cheaper alternative. ...a general purpose hand held metal detector unit should be more than capable of instantly detecting large metal masses such as knives or guns carried on a person, whilst a high performance detector will be required to detect small objects ingested within a body for instance.
