Hospital Lifts
Low mobility entrances and stairs can make it very tricky to gain access to a hospital. Whether you have stairs externally or internally, it is important to have adequate solutions in place, so that everyone can access the building. The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2005 has given disabled people the rights of access to everyday services; it is, therefore, essential and a legal requirement that you have fully functioning accessibility systems in order within your healthcare facility, whether a private or public sector NHS hospital.
Here at Invalifts, we have fitted many platform lifts in UK hospitals - by offering a range of solutions depending upon your requirements. We provide an easy and reliable solution to your problem. We offer our Inva StairRiser which is a stair platform lift perfect for inclined access. Whereas the MC2000 Platform lift is a self-standing platform lift in its own steel clad/glazed shaft structure that includes the drive system and is suitable for 5 passengers. Minimal building work is required thus providing a convenient and cost-effective outcome.
Invalifts is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of powered access equipment and has installed hundreds of platform lifts. We pride ourselves on providing a speedy and most importantly; efficient service while remaining aware of and compliant with all relevant Building Regulations. We offer servicing, a free access survey prior to installation as well as offering lift maintenance and servicing.
Healthcare Lift Installation Case Study
Leicester General Hospital, based on the outskirts of Leicester and lovingly referred to as the ‘Palace on the Hill’ by local residents, is host to the headquarters of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
When the education department required a replacement platform lift recently, they were having difficulty in finding a company that could supply and fit a platform lift in the small area of space available. Every company that came out to provide a quote for the work simply didn’t have a lift that would fit.
Installing the lift in a tight space
The specifiers contacted Midlands based powered access suppliers Invalifts, who were able to provide the MC2000 platform lift that would meet the tight space requirements and prove safe, easy-to-use and extremely reliable. The lift was able to fit the small area required, with an amazingly small footprint of just 1250mm by 1250mm.
The MC2000 is a self-standing platform lift in its own steel clad or glazed structure that includes the drive system. It is operated by single phase 240v power and no overhead machinery room or large pit beneath the unit is required. Because the model has its own freestanding shaft and complies with UK and EC Directives covering safety, fire and machinery, minimal building work is required thus providing a convenient and cost-effective answer for architects and specifiers. The units are widely accepted by Local Authority Access Officers.
Quick Installation
Invalifts were able to undertake the whole project for Leicester General Hospital, including building works, and trouble-free installation of the lift was completed within just two days with minimal disruption to the Education department. The whole project was completed within a week.
Invalifts is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of powered access equipment and has installed hundreds of platform lifts in schools, libraries, churches, night clubs, leisure centres and commercial buildings. They specialize in providing small footprint platform lifts and have recently introduced a small footprint, self-contained passenger lift which is self-supporting and designed ideally to fit into tight spaces such as stairwells.
The company prides itself on providing a next working day service. It also offers a free access survey, covering powered access lifts for the less able, in conjunction with the client.
