Jtech Services have recently supplied their Aluminium Pipe Boxing system for a number of tower blocks in London. A detailed pre-manufacture measure was undertaken so that installation was straightforward and completed within the time frame required. Waste was also kept to a minimum as specific lengths were supplied for each floor so very little, if any, onsite cutting was required. A complimentary range of accessories were also pre-fabricated which allowed the Corners, Tee Pieces and Off Set Units to be offered up into place and fixed straightaway. Why go for aluminium? Alongside the fact that the powder coated finish was of a FR grade, the need to make sure that there would be no issues from the pipe boxing in the case of a fire in the flats figured highly. The quality of the product and the ease of installation were also big factors in the decision. The need for metal based pipe boxing systems, be that steel or aluminium, is becoming more apparent as building facility managers and heating & sprinkler system designers see the need to protect their services in the event of fire.
