Load dependent start/stop
Prioritized start/stop sequence
Off duty scheme
Marine approved
The M6000 Power Management System provides load depending (kW) start and stop of up to twelve generators.
The M6000 will issue a start signal to the next generator when the total load exceeds a preset level compared to the total running capacity. Likewise the M6000 will command the lowest prioritized generator to stop if it finds that the remaining generators to be sufficient for handling the present load situation. Start and stop levels are defined as percentages compared to 100% load.
The M6000 operates with a unique start/stop scheme which ensures that the amount of reserve capacity is always relative to the amount of total load. This scheme provides the security and stability required in e.g. marine applications.
The start and stop sequence is defined by priorities. Each generator has a priority, which can be changed while the system is in operation. In order to prevent overload as a result of priority change, startup will always precede shut-down.
An external off duty signal provides a convenient way of taking a running generator out for service. Activating the off duty signal on a running generator will cause the M6000 to start up replacement capacity before the generator is released (and stopped). A generator that has been placed off duty is outside the control of the M6000 until its placed back on duty.
Generator faults are also picked up by the M6000. The next generator in the sequence is automatically started if a running generator fails.
The M6000 measures the active load on the generator through a 0-10 VDC Watt converter (not included). Adjustments are provided for configuration of generator capacity, star/stop delay and hysteresis etc.
The M6000 provides relay based start/stop signals suitable for most engine controllers (e.g. the M2000 Engine Controller). The start/stop sequence is configured on the M6100 Power Management Selector. The M6050 Reserve Power Instrument can be fitted to indicate the total amount of reserve power.
The M6000 is for flush mounting and is sized as a standard switchboard instrument. Dimensions: 96 x 96 x 75 mm.
