Kee Safety provides a proven choice of fittings for the quick, easy and cost-effective assembly of guardrailing and other tubular structures. Our fittings are used in a wide range of building industry applications. Using Kee Safety’s components, contractors can assemble structures much more quickly, safely and cost-effectively when compared to outdated on-site fabricating and welding methods.
KEE KLAMP fittings range
The company’s leading KEE KLAMP fittings range comprise a comprehensive selection of simple to use, galvanised malleable cast iron fittings. These allow pre-cut lengths of standard tubing to be connected together to form safety guardrailing and other types of tubular framework structure. KEE KLAMP fittings incorporate an integral socket screw which locks the fitting securely onto its tube to give an excellent slip load performance. The extensive range ensures that they can also cope easily with any changes in direction or gradient, and easily accommodate requirements for adapting or extending an existing structure.
Advantages of using tubular fittings over fabrication
For contractors on site, the advantages of such an approach are clear. It eliminates the need for a hot work permit, reducing power, skilled welding labour requirements and hazard risks on site. Structures can be assembled much more quickly and easily, reducing project time and costs, with adjustments simply made to accommodate specific issues encountered on site. Also, in contrast to welding, using KEE KLAMP fittings ensures that there is no damage to any protective coating on the structure. This can help reduce the risk of corrosion, lengthening the life of the structure and protecting its aesthetics.
Testing handrail structures constructed from tubular fittings and handrails welded on-site
Kee Safety carried out a series of comparison tests on a typical 16m handrailing structure – one assembled using standard tube and fittings from the Kee Safety range whilst the other was fabricated on-site, connected using traditional welded joints. The tests showed that a Kee Safety structure with its corrosion resistant fittings would last longer and offer up to ten times the value over its lifetime compared to a fabricated handrail where welded joints are prone to earlier failure. They also concluded that a Kee Safety structure provided a 41% saving in labour which contributed to an overall 20% cost reduction in handrailing assembly. Working with KEE KLAMP fittings also demands minimal time, effort and expense in the production of detailed drawings, prior to assembly on site.
Kee Safety supplies the leading KEE KLAMP fittings range to contractors, architects and specifiers. This comprehensive selection of simple to use, galvanised malleable cast iron fittings allow pre-cut lengths of standard tubing (from 21.3mm to 60.3mm) to be connected together to form handrailing and other types of tubular framework structure. Using KEE KLAMP fittings results in a finished structure with uniform appearance which meets guaranteed design loads.
