Is the UK Manufacturing Sectors Growth St-st-stuttering?

In recent days there have been mixed reports in the British press regarding the state of the UK's manufacturing sector as a whole. Whilst some articles in Newspapers and trade publications report that the sector is benefiting from ‘an underlying strength that is driving overall economic growth' it seems the majority are of a very different opinion. In fact, figures released in May 2011 from trusted surveys, including the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), suggest this is the sector's weakest performance in terms of growth for two years
