The design engineers of KTR Kupplungstechnik GmbH have recently improved their lamina design for the torsionally rigid RADEX®-N and RIGIFLEX®-N. Previously even the largest sizes of lamina were fixed with six pins. But in order to increase torque and improve performance, the larger sizes are now fixed with eight pins.
RADEX®-N: Higher performance range up to 280,000 Nm
For RADEX®-N the lamina designs are as follows:
Size 20 – 50 4-hole lamina
Size 60 – 135 6-hole lamina
Size 138 – 338 8-hole lamina
As well as increased torque, the 8-hole lamina has a smaller external diameter compared to the former 6-hole. Torques of between 23,000 and 280,000 Nm can be achieved, depending on the size of the coupling being used.
For easy assembly, it is recommended that KTR clamping nuts are used with the RADEX®-N. There is no need for special tools which keep costs down for the user, and the couplings can be assembled quickly and easily.
The RADEX®-N with the 8-hole lamina is available with customised spacers to meet differing applications.
RIGIFLEX®-N: From size 168 with 8-hole lamina
The RIGIFLEX®-N was initially developed for pump drives, the lamina designs are as follows:
Size 65 4-hole lamina
Size 75 – 160 6-hole lamina
Size 168 – 408 8-hole lamina
The benefits of utilising 8 pins, reduced costs and a higher performance range with smaller outside diameter, also apply to the RIGIFLEX®-N. The 8-hole version of this coupling conforms to the API 610 standard. Versions in accordance with API 671 are available on request.
In contrast to the RADEX®-N, the RIGIFLEX®-N is supplied pre-assembled. The assembled spacer consists of the actual spacer, the lamina set and flanges, and is sent as a unit. The customer then just has to assemble the coupling hubs to the spacer unit. This can be done using cap screws, making this coupling range extremely easy to assemble too.
The intermediate shaft dimensions are variable and can be manufactured to meet the customers requirements. Standard spacer lengths are available from stock.
