LAND CALIBRATION LABORATORY CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF WORLD-LEADING SERVICE

DRONFIELD, ENGLAND, July 2010—The Calibration Laboratory of Land Instruments International—the first thermal measurement laboratory to receive British Calibration Service certification—celebrated its 40th anniversary on July 23, 2010. Initially established in 1970 to satisfy customer requirements for accurate temperature calibration, the Land Calibration Laboratory was the first accredited by the British Calibration Service (now the United Kingdom Accreditation Service-UKAS) to issue calibration certificates in the field of thermal measurements. The laboratory also was the first accredited to issue certificates that meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025—the main international standard used by testing and calibration laboratories. “Since 1970, the Land Calibration Laboratory has issued over 18,500 certificates,” notes Mick Broughton, UKAS Team Leader for Land Instruments. “Its success is a testament to the dedication of the people who worked here over the last 40 years.
