WRAP’s Food Waste Action Week is back this month (18-24th March), bringing businesses, government organisations and global partners together to support citizens to develop the tools they need to cut food waste in their homes.
The theme for this year is to encourage citizens to ‘Choose What You’ll Use’, highlighting the benefits of buying loose fruit and vegetables and inspiring people to do wherever they can. WRAP research has shown that if all apples, bananas and potatoes were sold lose, 60,000 tonnes of food waste could be saved, enabling people to buy closer to their needs.
Food Waste Action Week is Love Food Hate Waste’s flagship annual campaign to reduce food waste in UK households. This year, the Food Waste Action week is working with schools, food brands and retailers to make the shift towards buying and selling fresh produce simpler for everyone.
According to Love Food Hate Waste, 4.7 million tonnes of edible food is thrown away each year by UK households. The Love Food Hate Waste website is full of simple hacks, tips and guidance to make the most of food at home.
Here at Leafield Environmental, we understand the challenges of food waste and to support the UK Government’s commitment to reduce food waste by 2030, we have a dedicated Food Waste Recycling Bin Range designed for office kitchens, canteens and hospitality, retail and leisure environments.
