Marley Eternit has launched a Fibre Cement Slates Fixing Guide offering detailed advice to roofers on good site practice to comply with the requirements of Building Regulations. Covering everything from site working and setting out, through to fixing methods, the guide is an easy on site reference tool for both experienced and novice roofers.
The fixing guide is divided into several parts. The first section provides details on general roof preparation and slate fixing methods. The latter sections include detailed fixing instructions on Marley Eternits dry fix and ventilation systems including the Universal range of roofing accessories.
Charlotte Hughes, Campaign Manager at Marley Eternit, said: “With ever increasing legislation focusing on the environment and roofers increasingly required to use products that measure up on sustainability, the popularity of our UK manufactured fibre cement slates continues to grow. They can achieve an A+ rating as defined in the BRE Green Guide to Specification* and all products in the range benefit from the very latest, state-of-the-art slate manufacturing technology.”
In addition to the A+ rating, Marley Eternits fibre cement slates have other benefits including being easy to stack and store in comparison to natural slates, which can be a variety of shapes and sizes. To the roofer this is also an advantage allowing greater accuracy when estimating the amount of materials needed for the project.
Natural slates have a reputation for being more difficult to install than roof tiles and so roofers require separate training in order to install such products. Fibre cement slates however are easier to install and so are accessible to roofers with a range of experience from the newly qualified to those who have been in the industry for years.
Charlotte Hughes continues: "The new Fibre Cement Slates Fixing Guide is an important tool for all roofers wanting to work with our fibre cement slates, providing them with easy access to practical advice that can be easily referenced whilst on site.”
