![Gun Drilling](https://images.findtheneedle.co.uk/findtheneedle/products/3272144.jpg)
Gun drilling was first introduced in Europe over 200 years ago. A process being born out of the need to generate the bore of gun barrels in a more precise economical manner.
Throughout history, the most effective manner of producing a gun barrel was to hand forge a long strip of steel around a rod (or mandrel) in a spiral fashion. A Blacksmithing function rather than a manufacturing process. This method produced many fine Damascus gun barrels which were highly prized and performed exceptionally well with the traditional 'black powder' of the time.
