The Velour loop and HTH hook are both far thinner than their standard woven counterpart, the HTH (high technology hook) is a moulded plastic tape which feels smooth to the touch, and the Velour loop is 'less fluffy' than the standard loop, which is why the two combined give you the best connection. The HTH and Velour can be paired with standard tapes, but this is not optimal.
