Ness-Kathabar-System for drying and minimising of germs in the air of packaging and working rooms.
Ness would like to give you more information about this economical and elegant method of air dehumidification and air conditioning with simultaneous microbiological decontamination effect. In many food-processing firms a great deal of attention is devoted to control of the relative humidity but, mainly for economic reasons, only through indirect control of the air temperature.
A further unresolved point is the drying of processing rooms cleaned during the course of multi-shift working, which either takes too long by conventional methods or by reducing the drying time is much too costly.
Since 2001 NESS & Co. GmbH has been the sales and technology partner for Kathabar Systems in Germany and as such the interface for the food industry and especially the meat sector. Kathabar Systems Europe recognised early on that when compared with the classic condensation drying process absorptive air conditioning represents not only a variant that is of economic interest, with energy savings of up to 50 %, but also brings with it a series of hygiene advantages for food treatment operations.
Absorptive air-conditioning works with a cooled hygroscopic salt solution, which mainly dehumidifies a partial current of the surrounding air to a precisely defined water content (up to an absolute water content in the air of 1.5 g water/ kg dry air and less) and at the same time equalises the temperature. Through this standardised conditioning of the processed air the desired air-conditioning data and in particular the relative humidity may be safely set at any time, thereby creating the basic conditions for the best possible production quality without the danger of condensation. A very important secondary effect of this absorptive air conditioning is the reduction of germs in the circulating air. A large proportion of the micro-organisms is washed out of the air by the hygroscopic salt solution and killed off by the subsequent treatment. In this way reductions of germs by up to 97 % are being achieved.
