Edible oils are fat that is extracted from plants, animals, seeds, beans or vegetables for human consumption. Oils are extracted by the use of mills by crushing or pressing, or through the use of chemicals to extract the oils.
Such oils vary in viscosity according to state. There are three states saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. Saturated oils are solid at room temperature, monounsaturated are liquid at room temperature but solid when refrigerated and polyunsaturated are liquid even when refrigerated. Edible oils are used in food manufacture as an ingredient or replacement for other fats such as butter, as a method for cooking or as fuel.
