Sampling pumps are pumps used to extract small quantities of liquids from a larger batch for testing.
Testing can be performed on the sample for the following reasons:
Quality Control Ensuring sample of liquid meets the desired quality standard for a particular batch.
Fluids can also be checked for impurities and presence of chemicals and concentrations which can be useful during product development or overall quality control.
Ascertaining Value In oilfield applications, samples of a drilling mud can be taken to determine physical properties, and microscopic traces of elements to ascertain the profitability of a hydrocarbon reserve.
Depending on the quantities required and nature of the liquid a hand pump can be used for light fluids, or small micro gear pumps, peristaltic pumps for dosing small vials or periodically and magnetically coupled pumps for the handling of toxic liquids.
The materials of which a pump is constructed in need to be carefully chosen to ensure there is no interference with the study results as although a pump may be compatible with fluid there is still a possibility of cross-contamination e.g. cast iron with water, or copper alloys or bronze with fuel sampling. Our pumps are configurable to allow the alteration of internal parts to match your requirements whether one pump is required or a hundred.
