In our opinion:

The Zebra ZD420D is a well designed and compact direct thermal label printer with PAUSE, FEED and CANCEL buttons as well as indicators for STATUS, PAUSE, DATA, SUPPLIES and NETWORK on the top cover.  This makes the printer much easier to use than the 'one button' does everything' method used by most other printers of this type.

The top cover also has a power ON/OFF button which is much better then the small hard to reach switch located at the rear of previous models.

If you need a direct thermal label printer to print quality labels that will give years of trouble-free use then you will not go wrong with the ZD420D. The supplied software can easily produce text, barcodes, lines and graphics and is very easy to set up and use.

Other really good features are the user-replacable printhead and platen roller.  This minimises downtime and meand there is no need for engineer visits or return to base type repairs.

As well as user-replacable parts this model has user-installable options such as a serial port, ethernet LAN interface, label dispenser (peel and present) and cutter.

Included with the printer is a free downloadable copy of 'Zebra Designer Essentials'.  This is a very easy to use label design software that enables you to design labels of any size with text, barcodes, lines and graphic etc.
