In our opinion:

The Zebra ZD420C is a well designed and compact thermal transfer label printer with PAUSE, FEED and CANCEL buttons as well as indicators for STATUS, PAUSE, DATA, SUPPLIES and NETWORK on the top cover.  This makes the printer much easier to use than the 'one button' does everything' method used by most other printers of this type.

The best feature of this printer is that it only takes a few seconds to load a new ink ribbon cartridge into it.  If you have several operators using the printer or especially if you have operators that have not been trained on loading ink ribbons, making sure the ribbon is the correct way round and is positioned in the printer properly then this model will have major benefits in saving time and avoiding misprinted labels.

The top cover also has a power ON/OFF button which is much better then the small hard to reach switch located at the rear of previous models.

If you need a thermal transfer label printer to print quality labels that will give years of trouble-free use then you will not go wrong with the ZD420C. The supplied software can easily produce text, barcodes, lines and graphics and is very easy to set up and use.

Other really good features are the user-replacable printhead and platen roller.  This minimises downtime and meand there is no need for engineer visits or return to base type repairs.

As well as user-replacable parts this model has user-installable options such as a serial port, ethernet LAN interface, label dispenser (peel and present) and cutter.
