The equipment was designed to be ultra portable being put into service during the second world war. The equipment has the capacity to cut 2" or 50mm which for a small set of equipment is quite a feat. The nozzles and blowpipe were designed around the equal pressure nozzle mix principle for improved safety, unfortunately I believe that having been "rushed" into production with little develpment time the resultant seat design chosen was not as good as it could have been which means that the AFN nozzles can suffer from uneven gas distribution in the blowpipe head. Should you experince this problem the answer is to turn off the equipment loosen the nozzle nut and twist the nozzle 15 to 65 degrees, tighten and try again. Should the first attempt fail try again at 30 degree intervals. The AFN nozzles should all exhibit good backfire resistance when produced correctly.
