Gouging Nozzle - PGNM - Oxy / Propane
Our propane gouging nozzles have been designed to be used in place of the AGNM where the user has switched from oxy / acetylene to oxy / propane.
Note :- Oxy / acetylene gouging will always perform better than the oxy /propane however the AGNM #19 & #25 both require 2 large DA cylinders so as to be able to achieve the full acetylene flow required.
The oxy / propane version does not suffer from this same problem so does imply that the PGNM #19 & PGNM #25 would perform better than the AGNM if under- running from a single DA cylinder.
Our PGNM are manufactured from solid copper which provides for longer life, greatly improved stability enabling you to continue to keep gouging when 2 piece versions have expired with a burnt brass inner!
Our PGNM also has the wear skid to prevent the nozzle dragging and wearing away too quickly.
These nozzles are designed to be used in a similar fashion to the AGNM.
The PGNM is available in all 3 sizes:- PGNM #13, PGNM #19 & PGNM #25.
Flame setting for the PGNM #25
Correct setting of the flame is important for performance plus to stop the nozzle overheating the flame retention skirt.
Oxy /acetylene burns much more quickly than oxy /propane, so setting the oxy / propane flame is slightly different.
The pre-heat mix needs to be increased and adjusted several times this stops the flame blowing off the end of the nozzle as you increase the flame size / flow to achieve the correct working flame.
The oxy / propane pre-heat flame needs to be set so the flame is forcing this is when the inner flame cones finally move through to the transparent blue condition.
When setting the pre-heat the first few steps are to go from rich very yellow flame to the yellow blue then increase the propane flow - back to the yellowish flame - then more oxygen - back to the yellow blue flame - this is repeated several times so the flame size is increased but remains seated to the nozzle front face, when the flow is sufficiently high enough then the working flame is set.
The pre-heat cones move from yellowy blue to pale blue finally when properly forcing the pre-heat flame will be set with the correct 4 :: 1 oxygen to propane mixing ratio, at this point the inner flame cones go to transparent blue condition / colour. Each cone will be 12 to 15mm long.
Flame setting for the PGNM #19 & #13 is similar only the cones are smaller due to the smaller pre-heat outlet size.
