To comply with the requirements of UK and Ireland legal regulations, every cubicle in a public premises that is likely to be used by females must have a facility to dispose of sanitary waste in a hygienic and environmentally sound manner.
Sanitary waste is a controlled waste and must be segregated at source using appropriate sanitary disposal bins (or feminine hygiene units - FHU).
Sanitary bin waste must be managed from source to disposal site by a registered waste carrier and its collection, carriage and disposal must be documented by what is know as waste transfer notes. These normally take the form of an annual 'Season Ticket' which is issued to the waste producer (you) describing the type of waste, its EWC (European Waste Code), how it is contained (either in sanitary bins or bags etc), who carries it, when it was collected, when and where it was disposed off.
On each collection you will be issued with a duty of care waste transfer note.
