Innovative Partition System from Meypack
25-10-2018
Meypack has developed a highly flexible packaging solution for partitions in the middle and high-speed segments for wrap-around packaging applications for continuous motion product flows. These machines are proving themselves in practice with renowned customers.
Glass bottles often contain high quality products such as wine, champagne and spirits. They are frequently provided with elaborate labels, both of which should still look attractive at the point of sale. Chips and scratches in the products' glass bottles and damaged labels caused by the often permanent friction reduce the attractiveness of the product and subsequently the sales figures.
Specially developed, pre-fabricated partitions are inserted during the end packaging process to protect these valuable products. They provide protection and separate the products from each other inside the case and are custom-designed to the product. Standing upright as blanks in the magazine, the pre-fabricated partitions are then each suctioned off horizontally, unfolded, positioned and inserted in a positively controlled manner in the product formation. The partition is held during the entire processing phase.
1) Product infeed and grouping stations — This is where the products are grouped by a servo-motor controlled grouping system and then transported by an overhead chain to the partition insertion system. With the help of guides to control the product flow direction and a driven transport conveyor. defined gaps are created horizontally and vertically between the product rows so that the partitions can be easily inserted.
2) Infeed of partition blanks — The pre-fabricated cardboard partitions are removed from the magazine. unfolded and then positioned on a stationary gripper system. Here they are held in a square pattern until they are taken over by the insertion system.
3) Preparation and insertion of the partitions — The partition is picked up from the stationary gripper system by a secondary gripper system, transported to the product formation, inserted between the products and then moved downwards towards the base of the case.
4) Product transport and packaging — The product formations that are now protected by partitions are then transported onto wrap-around blanks, packed and then enclosed tightly in the wrap-around case.
These partition insertion systems can operate at 25 cycles per minute each and we can include up to 3 units to reach any desired output.
