Meypack solutions for Carlsberg Group

Meypack have recently designed and executed packaging solutions for two subsidiaries of the world-wide active Carlsberg Group as well as for a licensee. In addition to Carlsberg Bulgaria, Meypack also delivered machines to Iceland and Poland. The brands most familiar in Germany include Carlsberg Pilsner, Tuborg and Holsten. Carlsberg Meypack commissioned a combined VP 511 SW 60 T-40 wrap-around trayshrink wrapper for the Carlsberg Brewery’s production facility in Shumen, Bulgaria. In addition to the machines for Bulgaria, an other Meypack VP 531 case packer was installed at Carlsberg Poland’s production facility in Sierpc, on which nine or respectively ten 500 ml glass bottles are packed into wrap-around cases. The 9-bottle cases allow the manual addition of larger giveaways, such as a special glass, into the spot where the 10th bottle would otherwise be placed. The 10-bottle cases can be supplemented with small advertising material such as calendars. For this purpose, the area in front of the glueing station has been extended and equipped with a paddle chain infeed and “pick & place” elements. In accordance to a customer request, the machine was designed so that the industrial fl aps of the cases can lie either inside or outside the case. The machine was delivered in October 2008. A Meypack VP 501 case packer was supplied to the Akureyri facility of the company Vifi lfell, a Carlsberg licensee since 1991 based in Reykjavik, Iceland. On this machine, a wide variety of beverages filled in 330 ml and 500 ml cans are packed in wrap-around cases in an innovative 2 x 5 format.
