MACHINE GUARDING & SAFETY GUARDS
11-04-2023
Plastic machine guards are an essential safety feature in manufacturing plants and other industrial settings. They provide a barrier between workers and the potentially dangerous moving parts of machinery, preventing injuries and accidents. If you're looking for high-quality plastic machine guards for your facility, you've come to the right place.
Plasfab Limited specialises in designing and manufacturing custom plastic machine guards to fit a wide range of machinery. We understand the importance of safety in the workplace, and use only the highest quality materials to ensure that our machine guards meet or exceed industry standards.
Our plastic machine guards can be customized to meet your specific needs, including shape and size. We offer a wide range of materials, including polycarbonate, PETG, PVC and Acrylic, to ensure that your machine guards are durable and long-lasting.
Polycarbonate and PETG are both commonly used materials for machine guards due to their high impact resistance and clarity. Here are some brief points on their advantages:
Polycarbonate: Commonly known as Lexan®, Makrolon®, Palsun®
Virtually unbreakable and highly impact-resistant, making it ideal for high-risk areas- withstand extreme temperatures and UV exposure without yellowing or cracking.
Offers excellent clarity and light transmission, allowing operators to easily see machinery in action.
Available in a variety of thicknesses to match specific needs.
Much stronger impact resistance compared to PETG, PVC and Acrylic and is recommended use with impact strength is critical for the machine guard.
PETG: Polyethylene terephthalate glycol
Easier to form and fabricate, making it suitable for complex bending or shaping.
PETG guards are often used in food processing as they are easier to form than polycarbonate and more durable than acrylic
Less expensive than polycarbonate, making it a cost-effective choice for many applications.
Can be recycled easily, making it an eco-friendly material choice
PVC: Polyvinyl Chloride
PVC plastic is lightweight, making it easy to handle and install.
It has good chemical resistance to oils, acids, and alkalis commonly used in industrial settings.
PVC plastic is easy to clean and maintain, which is important for maintaining a safe and hygienic work environment.
It can be easily fabricated to size or shape of machine.
PVC plastic is non-conductive and self-extinguishing, which is important for electrical safety if required.
Acrylic: Commonly known as Perspex®, Acrycast®, Greencast®,Plexiglass®, Lucite®
Acrylic is transparent, allowing workers to see the machinery and processes inside the guard.
Lighter than glass, making it easier to handle and install.
More affordable than other materials, such as polycarbonate and tempered glass.
Acrylic can be easily cut, shaped, and formed to fit specific machine guard requirements.
Is resistant to weathering and UV radiation, making it suitable for outdoor use.
Low maintenance: Acrylic requires minimal maintenance and is easy to clean, ensuring long-term usability.
We do not recommend using acrylic when impact strength is crucial for the guard.
Our team of experts works closely with you on design and we manufacture of your guards, working to your exact specifications.
Using state-of-the-art technology to create precise and accurate designs by using 3 axis CNC router machining, CNC laser cutting, heat forming, line bending and in house plastic fabrication. We can ensure machine guards fit perfectly and provide optimal protection.
At Plasfab Limited, safety is our top priority. We are committed to providing our customers with high-quality plastic machine guards that are designed to protect, reduce chance of injury and damage to machinery.
