Powder Cores are distributed air gap cores that possess many desirable characteristics. These include high resistivity, low hysteresis, and eddy current losses and excellent inductance stability under both AC and DC conditions. There is no organic binder involved (unlike iron powder cores) and therefore there are no thermal ageing effects.
Alloy Powder Cores are available in a number of different alloy compositions each giving its own unique characteristics:
Super MSS:- 85% Iron, 9% Silicon, 6% Aluminium
Hi-Flux:- 50% Nickel, 50% Iron
Molypermalloy (MPP):- 81% Nickel, 17% Iron, 2% Molybdenum
Iron Silicon (Fe-Si):- 93.5% Iron, 6.5% Silicon
