Installer Spotlight - Hill Heating
24-02-2021
We proudly value and support our network of loyal installers who are at the forefront of everything we do. We spoke with our valued engineers at Hill Heating to tell us a bit more about their business and to share their experience of working with Powrmatic.
Tell us a little about you, what you guys do, and how it all began?
I first started in this line of work when I applied for a job opportunity at Powrmatic in 1999.
I visited Powrmatic for a interview & was chosen as the successful applicant. After I accepted the position I had to drive down to ilminster & stop away from home each week for three months whilst training on all of powrmatic products & carrying out my ACOP & OFTEC Gas & Oil assessments. After 13 years experience it was decided that I start working for myself. Hill Heating has now been established for nearly eight years carrying out fault finding, Repair, Commissioning & Servicing to Gas & Oil fired warm air heaters, Radiant Tubes & Air Handling heater modules, covering a radius of 80 miles of our base in Rugeley, Staffordshire.
Looking to the future I hope to expand the business with sales of Powrmatic products & Installing heating equipment with some valuable contacts I have met over the years.
How long have you been working with Powrmatic?
21 Years
Why do you like working with Powrmatic?
I have known several members of staff a Powrmatic for a number of years now & find each person very friendly, helpful & all with a vast amount of knowledge.
What does a typical day look like for a heating engineer?
My typical day would usually consist of visiting 3 to 4 sites per day over the heating season September to March consisting of various work from fault finding, commissioning, servicing & repair covering approximately 150- 200 miles per day.
This day would typically include answering phone calls to book in jobs, ordering & collecting parts from suppliers & when returning home to type Reports & Invoices to email to clients, allowing quicker payment terms from companies I have visited.
Whats the most useful bit of kit in your toolbox?
The most useful bit of kit would be my multimeter. This is used virtually everyday. Even though my job is titled Gas Heating Engineer a electrician would also be appropriate.
Whats your favourite Powrmatic product to install and why?
As I do not at present carry out installations. From various comments from installers who I meet, most Like the Vpx heater as this is a floor mounted cabinet heater with easily installed flue & electrics. Lnvx heaters are also very popular with end users who require floorspace & Installers who find the product now very reliable.
What does the future hold for you, and the HVAC industry as a whole?
As I mentioned my next objective is to be able to sell Gas & Oil fired products through my website & working with various contacts carrying out new installations.
Also possibly moving into air conditioning through the summer months as I have just signed up to a online course whilst the COVID-19 crisis continues.
