2020 – A Unique Year in Review
07-12-2020
Our Proludic MD, Rob Baker, reflects on what has been a very unusual year:
“2020 has been quite a year! When we started it, we do not think any of us could have predicted what was in store. It has been a year of incredible stories and lots of sad ones too. It has taught us to appreciate our freedoms and many of the small things in life we can sometimes take for granted but are free and accessible to all.
Green spaces and parks have been a crucial part of this! They have connected us as central and public places to meet throughout both lockdowns. When we were unable to take our children to local play parks and passed them looking empty and quiet – it reminded us how important these spaces are to communities. Free and local to most – it gave newfound respect for what these places represent.
Children need these places to meet friends, let off steam, run about and have a special place to just have pure fun! When we think back to our childhoods, I think we can all picture our local park where this was also the case.
For Proludic (like many businesses) it has been a disruptive year however we remained open throughout trying to provide the best service possible to all our valued clients and partners. We were very proud to launch our 100 Rainbows Pledge where we also had the opportunity to give back to local communities and new play parks being installed. We choose to give £100 to 100 new Proludic play parks being installed – the money would be given to a local charity of the client’s choice that supports an initiative where key workers, their families and their communities would benefit. This will equate to £10,000 in charitable donations by the end of 2021. This was to show in our unique way our heartfelt gratitude for all the front-line staff and community volunteers who kept us moving forward this year.
We have also had some exciting site opens to celebrate including the brilliant inclusive playscheme for Moray Sports Centre in Scotland. In fact, inclusivity has been at the heart of many of our installs this year as we also delivered a fantastic jungle-themed play area in Kingston upon Thames for the ultimate inclusive play journey.
To top this unprecedented year off we also won the Business Improvement through Technology award at the Nottingham Business Awards held on the evening of Thursday 26th November. Chosen from a shortlist of four, Proludic was recognised as the standout company in 2020 that has invested in information technology, cybersecurity, and customer-facing systems. In a year that has seen technology take over – this seemed rather fitting.
We now go into 2021 with lots of hope, exciting new product launches and even more innovation through technology. All to be revealed from January onwards.
We want to thank all our staff, partners and clients for their support this year and we look forward to seeing you all (hopefully in person) in 2021.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone from the team at Proludic.”
