New Inclusive Play Park Completed for Gamston Community

Proludic Brings Inclusivity to Ambleside Play Park Development

Proludic has played a pivotal role in transforming Ambleside Play Park into an inclusive play space for the Holme Pierrepont & Gamston Parish Council. This multi-phase project aims to deliver two fully inclusive play park developments for the Gamston community, addressing a longstanding lack of accessible play options.

Funding and Support

The project received funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), allocated by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). This vital funding enabled the installation of accessible footpaths, essential groundwork, and a variety of inclusive play equipment.

The revamped play area was unveiled on National Play Day with a celebratory event attended by RBC’s Deputy Leader, the Mayor of Rushcliffe, Cllr Andy Brown, Parish Council representatives, Proludic Ltd, and local families.

Inclusive Play Equipment from Proludic

Recognising the need for accessibility, the Parish Council chose Proludic for its expertise in inclusive design and innovative play solutions. Proludic’s mission is to create spaces where children of all abilities can play, learn, and stay active.

The redeveloped play areas now feature:

  • Inclusive Bucket Swing: Accessible for children of all abilities
  • Wheelchair-Accessible Trampoline: Allowing children in wheelchairs to enjoy active play
  • Improved Wheelchair-Accessible Footpaths: Ensuring safe and convenient access to the play space

Future Enhancements

Further development is planned for completion in Spring 2025, with the addition of sensory play equipment such as outdoor musical instruments. These enhancements will make the park even more inclusive and engaging for children of all ages and abilities.

Community Impact

Cynthia Stacey, Vice Chair of Holme Pierrepont & Gamston Parish Council, commented:

“The award of the UKSPF grant has enabled the Parish Council to take the first steps in making Ambleside Play Park more accessible… The bucket swing and trampoline have already proved very popular, and it has been great to see so many children, of all abilities, play together. With more equipment being installed soon, it is hoped the park will be a truly inclusive community-based space which everybody can enjoy.”

Ambleside Play Park now stands as a beacon of inclusivity, with plans underway to make it a welcoming space for the entire community.
