Chromic Acid Anodising
Chromic acid anodising is the oldest anodising process. Chromic Acid Anodising offers excellent corrosion resistance whilst creating little or no fatigue stress in the aluminium substrate as the film thickness is only 2-5um. The chromic acid is more invasive than sulphuric acid and so a secondary benefit of the chromic acid anodising process is crack detection. However chromic acid anodising is not going to be around for too much longer as REACH regulations mean that it will be phased out by September 2017. Being relatively small and agile Protech Finishing will be able to react quickly to replace chromic acid anodising with whatever process the market favours at that time.
