Reaction to fire testing looks at the combustibility and ignitability of a material, focusing on its contribution to fire development and spread, rather than its ability to resist the passage of fire. The test produces a fire rating of Class 1,2,3 or 4 depending on how far a flame travels over a coated surface. The ratings are based on the lowest flame spread, with Class 1 being the best rating.
