The engineering team have decided to take the initiative to further oil the wheels of this very successful business by beginning to implement highly recognised 5S principles. 5S is a basic fundamental, systematic approach for productivity, quality and safety improvement in all types of businesses. 5S focuses on: Having visual order. Organisation Cleanliness Standardisation What are the 5S’s? 1.Sort – The first step, making things clean and organized. This improves efficiency, helps increase quality, makes it simpler to spot problems and enhances productivity. 2.Set – Organize, identify and arrange everything in a work area. 3.Shine – Regular cleaning and maintenance 4.Standardise – Make it easy to maintain – simplify and standardize. 5.Sustain – Maintaining what has been accomplished.
