Pryor Joins The SMMT
20-10-2016
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has a new member – Pryor Marking Technology.
The SMMT, founded in 1902 by Frederick Richard Simms, acts as the voice of the UK motor industry, supporting and promoting the sector at home and abroad.
Pryor has worked with the automotive industry for many years; designing and manufacturing specialist engraved dies depicting company logos and product information. Hand stamps are also used for certification marking – identifying that parts and products adhere to certain specifications and standards. Pryor’s dot and scribe marking machines are widely used for marking part identification and for marking VINs.
More recently, Pryor has developed robotic, deep laser marking machines that are guided by machine vision for completely automated VIN marking on vehicle chassis. These are high-speed and capable of marking 3 VINs, in 3 different places, in 58 seconds. They also check the mark quality with in-built verification software, preventing any vehicle rejects at port of entry due to poor quality VINs.
Pryor’s recent developments have enabled automotive manufacturers to drive the forefront of vehicle chassis technology. The company has therefore joined the SMMT to learn more about the automotive industry and learn how to develop its competencies to create new automotive breakthroughs. Pryor has worked for many years with the aerospace industry developing solutions for complete part traceability and hopes to help the automotive industry reach the same levels of traceability.
Dan Stephenson, Account Manager at Pryor, has already attended the Automotive Supply Chain Meeting and the SMMT Open Forum. Pryor will also be exhibiting at Automechanika Birmingham from the 7-9th June, 2016. For more details on the event, please visit www.pryormarking.com/events/automechanika-birmingham.
