Pryor Marking Technology Shortlisted for a a Further Two Awards!
Pryor has been shortlisted for not just one, but two more awards this year! The shortlist for the Sheffield Business Awards was announced on Tuesday 4th November, with Pryor being made a finalist for the Sheffield Hallam University Design & Innovation Award and the Wake Smith LLP Excellence in Manufacturing Award.
The Design and Innovation Award will be presented to the individual or business that has developed an innovative product or process with the potential to generate significant income, increase productivity, create jobs or, establish new markets and applications for an existing product.
The development of integrated robotic systems at Pryor has resulted in a significant increase in turnover, a substantial investment in new employees, turnkey applications for existing competencies and has assisted Pryor to become established in the automotive industry.
The Excellence in Manufacturing Award will be presented to the company that demonstrates a modern, efficient and innovative approach to manufacturing; exhibits best practice to build a sustainable operation either by the development of new manufacturing techniques, new products, or capital investments; and a track record for training and passing on skills to future generations and the desire to promote the region as a centre for manufacturing excellence.
Pryor has been recognised for continuous development of new technologies over the years due to heavy investment in design-to-order capabilities. Pryor pushes into new markets requiring new applications and has recently joined the NSA for Nuclear Manufacturing in order to train its workforce for developments within the nuclear industry. The company has invested heavily in new employees, bringing in new skills but also engages apprentices in all fields, takes on board work experience students, graduates and interns. Pryor also has employees studying towards HNC’s and NVQs, works closely with local universities, having run two master’s degree research projects, and currently has employees attending courses in law, exporting, sales and HR.
The Sheffield Business Awards is celebrating its thirteenth year and the awards dinner will be held on Thursday 4th December 2014 at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre. Winners will automatically be entered into the Sheffield City Region Awards, to be held in summer 2015, at which winners from each category of the Sheffield, Barnsley & Rotherham, Derbyshire and Doncaster Awards go head to head to be crowned the winner of winners.
