Grooving for Hidden Fastenings Product Information - Have your boards pre-grooved for use with hidden fastenings - Suitable for use with ArchiDecks - Cut on-site fitting time - Can be used with Ipe, Balau, Massaranduba & Garapa Pre-Grooving Hidden deck fastenings, such as the ArchiDecks we exclusively supply, usually clip into grooves that have been cut into the side of adjacent decking boards with a biscuit jointer. This can be a time consuming process that increases fitting times and costs. As such, we offer a unique pre-grooving service for the hardwood decking boards we supply. For a small cost per linear metre, we will cut a groove into the centre of both sides of your decking boards, along their entire length. This will allow you to fit clips wherever required. Limitations We are not able to pre-groove any of our oak decking boards as we do not recommend they are used with hidden fastenings. Oak has a tendency to shrink and expand so requires fastening with deck screws. We also cannot offer this service for decking boards that have a grooved profile, as the rebate we machine along the boards length comes to within a few millimetres of the dip of the face groove. As such, we recommend that boards with a grooved profile are rebated on site with a biscuit jointer. This will have no structural impact as cuts are only made in the few positions required for the clips to fix into.
