Thermo Treated Flooring The wear layer of oak on these engineered boards has been Thermo Treated - a chemical free process that heats the timber to temperatures in excess of 200°C. This causes the oak to tighten and removes dampness, making it less likely to shrink or expand once fitted. In addition to adding stability, the thermo treated top wear layer provides a deep, luxurious and consistent colour throughout its thickness. As such, thermo treated engineered flooring does not need to be re-stained in the event of any damage or sanding, unlike a traditional board with a colour treated surface.
