NEW COSHH LEGISLATION 1st June 2015
13-05-2015
Most businesses use substances, or products; these could cause harm to employees, contractors and other people. The European Regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures – the CLP Regulation – came into force in all EU member states, the last elements of which will be in place by the 1st June 2015. This means that no national legislation is needed.
Sometimes substances are easily recognised as harmful. Common substances such as paint, bleach or dust from natural materials may also be harmful. Labels are there to help identify hazardous chemicals, and explain what the hazards are and how to avoid them. Packaging is also important to ensure that chemicals are stored and disposed of safely.
You are probably already familiar with the current CHIP hazard symbols that appear on some chemical labels, these are the orange symbols with back pictures as detailed above, as from the 1st June 2015, all packaging should show the New Hazard Symbols or pictograms also deatailed above.
Have you advised your employees of the changes, a simple way of achieving this is by displaying our COSHH Pictogram Poster at only £1.99* each!
